Showdowns mark boys sports schedule this week

The boys’ seasons heat up this week with some big rivalry showdowns and important games as we move into the second half.

Tuesday

Archmere (5-2) vs. Conrad (7-2) 3:30 p.m., Frawley Stadium. The Auks look for their third straight win as they play the seventh-ranked Redskins in the first game of a high school doubleheader at the home of the Blue Rocks.

St. Thomas More (1-3) at Ss. Peter and Paul (Md.), 4 p.m.

Salesianum (5-0) vs. St. Mark’s (8-1), 7 p.m., Frawley Stadium. The top-ranked Sals meet the second-ranked Spartans in a big showdown under the lights in the first of two regular-season meetings. This game follows the Archmere-Conrad tilt.

Wednesday

Wilmington Christian (3-3) at Salesianum, 4 p.m.

Thursday

St. Elizabeth (4-4) at Newark Charter (3-4), 3:45 p.m. The Vikings look for a road win to get over .500 for the season, but the Patriots played No. 1 Sallies tough last week.

Friday

Christiana (0-5) at St. Thomas More, 3:45 p.m.

Saturday

St. Mark’s at A.I. DuPont (2-4), 11 a.m.

Archmere at St. Elizabeth, noon

Salesianum at Cape Henlopen (5-1), 1 p.m. The Sals face the team that knocked them out of the tournament last year. The Vikings are ranked fifth in the state.

Wednesday

Appoquinimink (4-0) at Archmere (6-1), 4 p.m. The second-ranked Auks haven’t lost to an in-state opponent and face a tough Jags team that wants to show it belongs in the tournament picture.

Salesianum (6-1) at St. Mark’s (1-5), 7:15 p.m. The Sals finally play a team from Delaware. The Spartans would love to pull off the upset at home.

Thursday

Mount Pleasant (0-5) at St. Elizabeth (2-4), 3:45 p.m.

Friday

Wilmington Christian (2-4) at Archmere, 3:45 p.m.

Cape Henlopen (5-2) at Salesianum, 7 p.m. The third-ranked Vikings travel north for the upset bid at Baynard Stadium.

Saturday

Brandywine (3-1) at St. Mark’s, 11 a.m.

Hill Academy (Canada) at Salesianum, 2 p.m. The Sals face one of the top teams from Canada, which is a big lacrosse country.
