Abessinio Family Foundation supports Catholic Charities through $170,000 matching funds gift

In recognition of the 185th anniversary of Catholic Charities’ service in the Diocese of Wilmington, Rocco and Mary Abessinio established the St. Rocco Fund for Catholic Charities. The fund pledged a dollar-for-dollar matching gift donation for funds donated to Catholic Charities by July 5 this year.

Catholic Charities raised $171,945 during its campaign, which was matched by the Abessinio’s St. Rocco Fund.

The presentation was before an Aug. 16 Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Wilmington. Aug. 16 is the feast of St. Rocco.

Catholic Charities offers a wide range of services that provides care for those facing poverty, homelessness, hunger, mental illness, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy. The agency serves people throughout Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
