Auks get balanced scoring, stingy defense in big win over Ursuline

CLAYMONT – Fourth-ranked Archmere used a balanced scoring attack to beat second-ranked Ursuline, 10-5, in girls lacrosse on a chilly, damp May 6 afternoon. The Auks led, 5-4, at the half, but its defense held the potent Raiders offense to one second-half goal.

The Raiders got a hat trick from Bridget Schmeusser, while Jane Lyons and Erin O’Doherty each added a goal. The Auks had six different players score, including three in the second half. Kate Olsen, Lauren Ross, Sydney Yanick and Oliva Baldi each scored two goals for the Auks.
The Auks (10-1) have won 10 straight games since a season-opening loss to No. 3 St. Mark’s. They travel to Sussex Tech on Monday for a 5:30 p.m. faceoff. The Raiders (9-2) suffered their first in-state loss this year. They host Wilmington Charter on Thursday at 4 p.m.
