    Our Lenten Journey | March 19, 2015

“How does Joseph respond to his calling to be the protector of Mary, Jesus and the Church?

By being constantly attentive to God, open to the signs of God’s presence and receptive to God’s plans, and not simply to his own.”

    — Pope Francis

Today we celebrate the feast of St. Joseph, husband of Mary, foster father of Jesus. Throughout our day, and the rest of Lent, let us thank God for the gift of the fathers and father-figures in our lives, and look to Joseph as a perfect example of unselfishly responding to God’s plan. Today’s readings all touch on the theme of fatherhood and faith. How can we be “open to the signs of God’s presence” in our own lives?
