PHILADELPHIA – Healthcare workers and medical professionals are invited to a conference sponsored by the Pontifical Council for Healthcare Workers. It will be held on Feb. 11, which is World Day for the Sick, at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, 100 E. Wynnewood Road, Wynnewood.
Archbishop Zygmunt Zimowski, president of the pontifical council, will deliver the keynote address reflecting on the message of Pope Benedict XVI for the 2012 World Day for the Sick.
Three other people will speak. Dr. John Haas, president of the National Catholic Bioethics Center, will talk about “God Heals All Infirmities: The Power of the Sacraments in the Church’s Healing Ministry.” Ron Rak, president and CEO of St. Peter’s Healthcare System in New Brunswick, N.J., will discuss “Bearing Witness to God in a Healthcare Setting.” The associate dean of education at Drexel University, Dr. Nayan Kothari, will speak on “Thou Shall Not Kill: Perspective of a Jain Physician.”
Mass will be celebrated in the seminary chapel at 3:30 p.m. by Archbishop Zimowski. Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will be the homilist.
