 Annual Catholic Appeal

Commitment Weekend April 21 & 22

Dear Friends in Christ,

Jesus said to the man, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Mt 19:21)

Incorporating the spirit of Jesus Christ into our daily lives is an essential component of our faith. It is the integration of His teachings that allows us to serve as living examples for others. If we accept the Lord’s invitation to follow Him, we accept the challenge to imitate His love and compassion for others.

In these continuing difficult times, it becomes clearer to me that our role as Church is more critical than ever in helping those in need. Bearing witness to poverty, illness and injustice, and responding in the spirit of Christ are the hallmarks of the many ministries supported by our Annual Catholic Appeal and your generosity.

For more than 30 years, the Annual Catholic Appeal has brought good news to thousands of people throughout Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Your gracious and substantial support has enabled our diocese to provide those in need with not only life’s material essentials but also with the spiritual and emotional assistance, religious instruction and the guidance that is so crucial to overcoming life’s greatest struggles.

With confidence in your spirit of love and charity, I ask that you consider pledging a sacrificial gift to this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal. Every gift you give reaches ministries and services that nourish God’s people – physically, morally and spiritually. By giving generously, you accept the Lord’s call to “Come, Follow Me.”

Sincerely yours in Our Lord,

Most Reverend W. Francis Malooly

Bishop of Wilmington
