Former Padua teacher Sister Helen St. Paul dies at 95

ASTON, Pa. – Sister Helen St. Paul Herberich, who was a teacher at Padua Academy in Wilmington for 12 years, died in Assisi House on July 3. She was 95 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 72 years.

Herberich_Helen St Paul262Sister Helen St. Paul, who had bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology, ministered primarily in secondary education and senior care. In addition to Padua, she taught and served as a principal in the archdioceses of Baltimore and Philadelphia. She also served as administrator of Our Lady of Angels convent and volunteered in administration at Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence.

Services are scheduled for Friday, July 8, in Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston. A Christian wake service begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a viewing. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., and burial will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
