Legatus, the Catholic business leaders’ organization which celebrated its 10th anniversary in May, opens its 11th year Oct. 11 with a 6 p.m. Mass celebrated by Bishop Malooly at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church in Greenville.
Legatus is an international group of more than 4,000 executives and their spouses who meet for prayer, Masses and a meal and where they hear from guest speakers. Members are committed to live, study and spread the faith in their professional and personal lives.
After the group’s 10th anniversary Mass, six new members of the chapter were inducted: Chuck and Rosemary Crawford, Dave and Aimee Czachorowski, and Tim and Helen O’Malley.
Bishop Malooly told the Legatus business leaders in his homily at the anniversary Mass to follow St. Paul’s advice to the Colossians: “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bear with one another and forgive one another…. And over all these put on love.”
The bishop told the executives, “If you were to read that passage at the beginning of each business day, it would set a very significant program in front of you that day no matter what else happened. I like to think that when you go to work, when you do your business you live your faith. You bring your faith to your work; you model your faith for others there.
You come to realize that those there are not just employees… but they are your brothers and sisters in the Lord.”
Guests at the anniversary dinner at the Greenville Country Club included John H. Hunt, Legatus’ executive director; as well as retired regional director John Lariviere.
