Sister Francis Paula Bader dies at 94

ASTON, Pa. — Sister Francis Paula Bader, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 76 years, died Jan. 2 in Assisi House. She was 94 and had served in the Diocese of Wilmington for 30 years.

Services are Jan. 5 at Assisi House, 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, Pa. A wake will be held at 9:30 a.m., with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m..

In the diocese, she was a teacher at St. Ann’s School, Wilmington (1934-52) and Corpus Christi High School, Elsmere (1964-67). She also served as the principal at St. Joseph on the Brandywine School, Greenville (1955-58) and St. Peter the Apostle School, New Castle (1979-85).

The Baltimore native served in education and local house ministry, and as a volunteer, in her home archdiocese for 20 years, and she also ministered in the Archdiocese of Washington and the dioceses of Raleigh, N.C., Pensacola-Tallahassee, Fla., Mobile, Ala., and Spokane, Wash. She was a volunteer at Queen of Peace Convent in Aston from 2003-08 before moving to Assisi House.

Services were Jan. 5 in Assisi House, with burial in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Donations in Sister Francis Paula’s name can be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014.
