Wilmington native Sister Jean Marie Odachowski dies at 102

LODI, N.J. – Felician Sister Jean Marie Odachowski, a native of Wilmington, died June 11 at the Immculate Conception Convent infirmary in Lodi, N.J. She was 102 and had been a Felician for 85 years.
Sister Jean Marie was formerly known as Sister Mary Fulginette. Born Mary Odachowski, she was a graduate of St. Hedwig School in Wilmington before attending the Felician Sisters’ High School Aspirancy in Lodi.
SisterJeanMarieA teacher for 51 years, Sister Jean Marie taught at St. Hedwig Elementary and High schools, and also at Holy Spirit School in New Castle. She also ministered in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Oklahoma, Kansas, Alabama and Virginia. She changed careers in 1985 and worked in medical records at St. Joseph Hospital in Philadelphia. She retired in 2002.
Sister Jean Marie was predeceased by her sister, Felician Sister Mary Scholastica, the former principal at St. Hedwig. She is survived by extended family, friends and members of her religious community. Services were June 15 in Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel in Lodi, with burial in the Felician Sisters’ Cemetery.
