Ellen Kullman, DuPont’s first female chief executive, will receive the Msgr. Thomas J. Reese Award at Catholic Charities’ annual tribute dinner on April 6.
Bishop Malooly will present the award at the dinner to be held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.
“We are delighted to honor Ellen Kullman for her dedication to community service,” said Richelle A. Vible, executive director. “Ellen has been a strong supporter of Catholic Charities, mirroring Msgr. Reese’s commitment to the most vulnerable.”
Kullman retired in October 2015 as the 19th CEO and chair of the DuPont Co. Prior to her appointment to those positions, she served as president, executive vice president and a member of the company’s office of the chief executive. She began her career at DuPont in 1988 as a marketing manager for the medical imaging business.
She sits on the board of trustees of Tufts University and the board of overseers for Tufts School of Engineering. She is former chair of the U.S.-China Business Council and is a member of the Business Council and the National Academy of Engineering.
Kullman lives in Wilmington and is a member of St. Joseph on the Brandywine Parish. She and her husband, Michael, have three children.
The award, created in 1989 in memory of Msgr. Reese, community activist and longtime director of Catholic Social Services, the forerunner of Catholic Charities, recognizes exemplary individuals who have demonstrated a deep commitment to promoting and restoring the well-being of people — Catholic Charities’ mission.
