The Diocese of Wilmington will conduct a random drawing to distribute 24 pairs of tickets to a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis in Washington, D.C., Sept, 23.
Bob Krebs, diocesan chancellor, reported this week that the Archdiocese of Washington is providing the diocese 24 open seating tickets and 24 standing area tickets for the pope’s Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, which will include the canonization of Blessed Junipero Serra. The liturgy is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Travel to Washington must be arranged by the ticketholders.
The procedure to enter the diocesan drawing for the tickets was announced in the Chancery Digest this week. It noted that some seats and some standing-area tickets “will have obstructed views” but TV screens at the site will help with visibility.
Entries for the papal Mass ticket drawing are limited to three from each parish and mission, the Chancery Digest said.
“The pastor will determine how the parish/mission entries will be decided. We strongly recommend that a fair and equitable method be used, as the diocesan ticket drawing will be announced in The Dialog and secular media outlets.”
The rules also state that the three entries from parishes and missions “must be at the Chancery office no later than noon on Aug. 31. Entries must be typed on a 3×5 index card and must contain the entrant’s name, address, telephone number, email address and parish address.
“Entries received after the deadline or incomplete or not on a 3×5 card will be void. Only one entry per person is allowed.”
