For 185 years, Catholic schools in the Diocese of Wilmington have been forming and educating students in the Catholic tradition, teaching them to honor the dignity of each human person and encouraging them to grow in the image and likeness of God.
Our Catholic schools are dedicated to educating students in the light of Jesus Christ and are essential to the life, ministry, and future of our Church. Our schools provide a comprehensive education to each student, in a loving Christian environment where prayer and service are infused into daily living and learning.
However, it is unfortunate that because of the financial stresses placed on families today, a Catholic education is not within the reach of every parent who desires for their children
a learning environment that places Jesus Christ at its center.
This weekend, the diocese will conduct its annual Share in the Spirit collection. Monies drawn from the diocesan Vision for the Future education trust and raised through the Share in the Spirit collection enable the diocese to make Catholic education affordable for many families who desire it, regardless of their economic circumstances.
This year, tuition assistance funds in the amount of $604,000 will be allocated to 294 students. While this support is significant, there were nearly 500 other children whose families qualified for aid but unfortunately due to limited resources there was not enough money available to help them.
By supporting the Share in the Spirit collection, you will be investing in the future of the Church by helping to form a new generation of faithful, Catholic leaders from among the young people God has entrusted to all of us.
