“Posada” is the Spanish word for “to take shelter.” Catholics in Latin America celebrate a novena before Christmas of meditations and feasts inviting participants to give shelter to the newborn King in their lives. The Hispanic communities invite the entire community to take the Christ child in its heart in posada celebrations. Don’t be surprised if Joseph and Mary show up seeking shelter. Tamales and a traditional Latin American drink, atole, will be served. All are welcome.
