Millions were certain that this tiny woman, hard at work in India’s slums, had proven unforgettable ‘ a certainty confirmed with her Sept. 4 canonization in Rome by Pope Francis.

Mother Teresa responded to God in the most selfless way. Like us, she experienced doubt. Like ours, her faith was tested.

For Mother Teresa, the greatest poverty is the spiritual emptiness that causes people to discard other human beings as useless objects.
