BRANDYWINE HUNDRED – Brothers Chris and Eric Ludman teamed up for 30 points to lead St. Mark’s to a 64-47 nonconference boys basketball win at Brandywine on Dec. 10.

basketballThe Spartans started slowly but picked up the pace at the end of the first quarter. Chris Ludman, a senior, scored eight points as the Spartans ended the quarter on a 9-4 run to lead 16-13. St. Mark’s took advantage of Bulldogs foul trouble in the second quarter, making eight free throws in a short stretch to extend the lead to 30-14. Brandywine, however, ended the half on an 8-0 run thanks to an aggressive full-court press, forcing some Spartans turnovers.

The teams traded baskets in the third quarter, and trips to the foul line became more frequent. Zach Palmer hit a bit three-pointer to open the fourth for St. Mark’s, and Eric Ludman scored on a layup off a nice feed from his brother to extend the lead to 46-32. Chris Ludman added some free throws to hold off a Bulldogs rally, and St. Mark’s improved to 2-0.

Chris Ludman scored 22 points, including 10 of 13 from the foul line, while Eric had eight points off the bench. Palmer added 10 for the Spartans, who host Delaware Military Academy on Friday night at 7:15. Brandywine (0-3) got 12 points from Tremaine Pinkney and will host Polytech on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
