Action heats up for boys as temperatures cool down

The weather is cooling down, but the boys’ action is heating up.

Soccer

Monday

boysCaravel (5-2) at St. Mark’s (6-2), 3:45 p.m. The defending Division II state champs go on the road to face a Spartans team that is playing well.  It starts a tough week for the Spartans

Tuesday

Archmere (6-3) at St. Elizabeth (5-4), 3:45 p.m., Alapocas Run State Park. They are both coming off tough losses and look to rebound in this very crucial Division II battle. The Auks lost, 2-1, to St. Andrews while the Vikings lost, 2-0, to St. Mark’s.

Washington Township (N.J.) (10-0-1) at Salesianum (6-2-1), 7 p.m., at Baynard Stadium. The Sals are coming off a tough 1-0 loss to the top-ranked team in the nation, and they face another undefeated team from New Jersey. This will be a tough week for the No. 1 team in Delaware.

Thursday

St. Elizabeth at Delaware Military Academy (8-2), 3:45 p.m.

Cape Henlopen (9-1) at St. Thomas More (1-8), 3:45 p.m. It’s a tough matchup for the Ravens as they get the third-ranked Vikings coming to town.

Salesianum at St. Mark’s, 7 p.m. The Spartans look to get a win against their archrival on their home field. These teams played a 2-1 match here two years ago.

Saturday

Delmarva Christian (3-8) at St. Thomas More, 11 a.m.

Garnet Valley (Pa.) (5-7-2) at Archmere, noon

Appoquinimink(9-0) at Salesianum, 1 p.m. The top two teams in Division I meet for an afternoon showdown. The Sals beat Appo in overtime in the semifinals of the Divsion 1 tournament last year.

 

Football

Friday

St. Mark’s (2-3) at Caravel (2-3), 7 p.m. The Spartans are coming off a tough loss at home to DMA, while the Buccaneers squeaked by Archmere. The Spartans tough schedule continues and a nice road win will help their playoff aspirations.

St. Elizabeth (1-4) at Dickinson (0-5), 7 p.m.

Archmere (1-4) at Delmar (0-5), 7:30 p.m. The Auks and the Wildcats have both had tough luck this year, losing close football games. One team looks to change its luck for the second half of the season.

Saturday

Salesianum (4-1) at Concord (4-1), 10:30 a.m. The second-ranked Sals are coming off a nice win against Middletown, while Concord beat Newark. Concord gets No. 1 William Penn after this one. The Sals will need to be ready for the early start.
