The teams combined for just six points in the first quarter – Archmere held a 5-1 lead – but the offense picked up in the second. Archmere held the advantage at four to six points for most of the stanza, but a three-pointer by Mount’s Ayanna Obey brought the Knights to within 12-10 with a minute left before the half. Emma McCann answered for Archmere with a floater along the right baseline to give the hosts a four-point spread at intermission.

The Green Knights dressed just seven players, and Archmere took advantage after halftime. The Auks opened the quarter on a 9-2 run, with most of the damage being done inside. Bastian opened the scoring with a three-pointer, then Maggie Malloy took an inbounds pass under the hoop and laid it in. Aniyah Green scored for Mount on a nice spin move, but the Auks Danaziah Brown hit the next two field goals, both the result of offensive rebounds in the paint, to make it 23-12.

The Green Knights got to within seven at 25-18 with approximately five minutes to go on another turnaround shot by Green, but those would be their last points until the final seconds.

The Auks are off until Friday, when they travel to Concord for a 5:15 p.m. tip. Mount, which was led by Obey’s six points, dropped to 4-5, are at Howard on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.
