BRANDYWINE HUNDRED – Archmere’s running game proved too tough for Brandywine as the Auks’ football team entered the win column with a 42-6 decision over Brandywine on Saturday. The Auks scored six times, all on the ground, and were never threatened.

Archmere scored touchdowns on its first four possessions to grab a 29-0 lead, and the Auks never looked back. Junior Pat Udovich capped a 63-yard opening drive with a one-yard touchdown run to give his team the early lead. Udovich scored again on the Auks’ next drive, ending a 55-yard drive with a 14-yard run.

Udovich did not score on the team’s next possession, but his 57-yard scamper set up sophomore Daniel Bark, who took a run eight yards for a score. The next one to find paydirt was junior Daniel Matranga, who went in untouched from eight yards out midway through the second quarter.

Brandywine scored its only points for the day on the ensuing kickoff. Quadiare Rogers-Chambers evaded defenders on his way to a 94-yard return.

Matrana added his second touchdown in the third quarter, and senior Jake Mottola ended the scoring for the day in the fourth with a two-yard score.

Udovich finished with 180 yards, while Matranga had 95. Archmere is home vs. Tatnall this Saturday at noon, while Brandywine is on the road at St. Mark’s Friday night at 7 p.m.
