With a few weeks left before the postseason tournaments start, there are a lot of important matches left in soccer and football for teams looking to make a statement. On the gridiron, the state’s top two teams will meet this Saturday.

 

Soccer

Tuesday

Archmere (9-4) at Salesianum (9-3-1), 3:45 p.m. Both teams will try to keep the winning feeling. The Auks have won two straight, Salesianum three.

boysSt. Thomas More (2-11) at Sanford (3-9), 4 p.m. The Ravens ended a long losing streak in their last game.

Dickinson (5-6-1) at St. Elizabeth (5-7), 7 p.m. The Vikings aim to end a four-game losing streak on Senior Night.

Thursday

St. Elizabeth at Mount Pleasant (3-8-1), 3:30 p.m.

St. Mark’s (8-5) at Sussex Tech (7-2-2), 5:30 p.m. St. Mark’s is riding a two-game winning streak but faces a stiff test in Sussex Tech, which is ranked fourth in Division I.

 

Football

Friday

Red Lion (1-6) at St. Elizabeth (2-5), 7 p.m. It’s homecoming for the Vikings, who gave Division I A.I. DuPont all it could handle in a 54-48 loss.

Hodgson (4-3) at St. Mark’s (3-4), 7 p.m. The Spartans played top-ranked St. Georges tough last week. Both of these teams are fighting for a playoff spot.

Saturday

Academy of the New Church (Pa.) at Archmere (3-4), noon. The Auks have won two straight after an upset of Conrad.

Salesianum (6-1) at William Penn (7-0), 1 p.m. Second-ranked Salesianum travels to the No. 1 Colonials in the game of the week. Both teams can score with effective ground games, although these defenses have played well against the run.
