WILMINGTON — Abby Dischert had 21 kills and Emily Panchak added 19 as the Concord Raiders proved to be too much for the Ursuline Raiders in a nonconference volleyball match. Concord took the match, 3-1, in four entertaining sets.

Concord won the first set, 25-17, behind the big two and sophomore Gabriella Portincasa, whose back-to-back kills made the score 24-16 en route to the win. Ursuline bounced back in set two behind Kailyn Kampert and Aria DiLiberto, earning a 25-18 win.

The third set was all Concord, who jumped out to a 5-0 lead behind two aces by Panchak. She, Dischert and Portincasa took turns after that delivering kill after kill as these Raiders took a 25-9 decision.

The final set was back and forth for the first 10 points, as neither team scored twice in a row. Ursuline, led by Kampert, went on a run and took a 22-16 lead, and a fifth set appeared likely. With Panchak serving, however, Concord scored five straight to cut the deficit to one before a Kampert kill extended Ursuline’s lead to 23-21. Concord took over after that, scoring the final four points for a 25-23 win and the match.

The win was Concord’s seventh consecutive, and after defeating Middletown on Tuesday, the Raiders are now 8-2. Their other opponent from Middletown, Appoquinimink High, visits Brandywine Hundred Friday for a 5 p.m. start.

Kampert had nine kills for Ursuline, which fell to 5-4 after the Concord loss and is now 5-5 after a defeat at the hands of Charter School of Wilmington on Tuesday. UA is at Archmere Thursday night at 6:15 p.m.
