If you’re a fan of top teams getting together, this is the week for you in both soccer and football. Top-ranked Salesianum is home for both of those contests, hosting second-ranked Appoquinimink in soccer on Saturday hours after the No. 1 football team in Delaware, Middletown, visits on Friday night. The week also features a trip to a pro venue for one of the Catholic schools.

St. Elizabeth (3-4) at William Penn (3-5), 3:30 p.m.
St. Thomas More (2-5) at Gunston Day (Md.), 4 p.m.
Archmere (4-3-1) vs. Wilmington Charter (5-3-1), 7 p.m. at Talen Energy Stadium, Chester, Pa. The Auks and Force normally play a compelling soccer match, but this one is extra special because it will take place at the home of the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. Andrew Rosenbaum and Zach Dainton anchor the Auks’ offense, while Ben Dunning and Jacob Orgodnick are among the Force’s weapons.
Caravel (6-1-1) at St. Mark’s (5-2-1), 7:15 p.m. St. Mark’s has a chance to pick up a quality win when the second-ranked Buccaneers visit. The Spartans will be looking to rid themselves of the taste of a shutout loss in their last match.

Appoquinimink at Salesianum, 1 p.m. The second-ranked team in the state, according to 302Sports.com, travels north to meet the top team. Appo had one loss coming into this week, but none to a Delaware foe. This will be the Jaguars’ third game of the week, however. High-scoring Matt Meadows leads the offense, which also features Hadi Basma and Mario DellaMonica, among others. They will need to be on their game to upset the Sals, who fell to the No. 1 team in the country over the weekend. The Sals, who will be coming off a game at St. Mark’s, have several potent scorers, including Gavin Ford and Bryce Wallace. Bring a chair and settle in for what should be an entertaining afternoon.

Friday
Howard (4-1) at St. Mark’s (4-1), 7 p.m. Howard is unranked, but its lone loss came to Division I Hodgson. The Wildcats have had two weeks to rest and get ready for the Spartans as they were awarded a win by forfeit last weekend. St. Mark’s has had its offense clicking after a hiccup at Caravel in week two.
Middletown (5-0) at Salesianum (4-1), 7:30 p.m. One of the most anticipated games on the schedule occurs at Baynard Stadium as the second-ranked Sals host No. 1 Middletown. It will be the Sals’ first game against a Delaware opponent since week two, and the toughest one to date. After a seven-point win over two-time defending champion Smyrna in the opener, the Cavaliers have won their last four by an average score of 45.75-2.5. A multi-pronged offense led by quarterback Drew Fry and running back Kedrick Whitehead has been on point this season. Salesianum will counter with a running attack led by Carson Salvo and Garrett Million, but the Sals can throw the ball as well. This game will sell out, so get tickets early, and prepare for what could be a long walk to Baynard if you don’t arrive early.

Archmere (3-2) at Delaware Military Academy (4-1), noon at Baynard Stadium.
St. Elizabeth (1-4) at Friends (3-1), 2 p.m.
