Field hockey leads in first full week of girls sports

The first weekend of the girls sports was interesting but what will the first full week bring us?

Field hockey

Monday

Newark Charter (0-1) at Archmere (0-1), 3:45 p.m. The Auks played well at Concord on field hockeyFriday but suffered a tough loss. They look to bounce back against the Patriots in a Diamond State Athletic Conference game.

St. Thomas More (0-0) at Red Lion(1-0), 4:15 p.m. The Ravens open the season on the road looking for a huge win to give them a good start.

Tuesday

Ursuline (1-0) at St. Andrews (2-0), 3:45 p.m. The Raiders got a huge win at home last weekend but face a tough road test as St. Andrews outscored it’s two opponents by a 9-0 score.

St. Mark’s (1-0) at Friends (1-0), 4 p.m. The Spartans opened the season with a nice win but face a tough road test at the Quakers.

Thursday

St. Elizabeth (0-0) at St. Georges Tech (0-1), 3:45 p.m. The Vikings open up their season on the road against a Hawks team that suffered a tough loss at Ursuline last week.

Archmere at Delaware Military Academy (1-0), 4 p.m.

Friday

Gunston Day (Md.) at St. Thomas More, 4 p.m.

 

Volleyball

Note: Some volleyball matches might not be played as scheduled because of a contract impasse between the Delaware Volleyball Officials Association and the Delaware Association of Athletic Directors.

Monday

Padua (1-0) at Concord (0-0), 6 p.m. The Pandas are on the road for the first 3 matches and would like to win it’s second straight.

Tuesday

volleyballArchmere (1-0) at Newark Charter (0-0), 6:45 p.m. The Auks opened the season with an impressive straight set win.

Ursuline (0-0) at St. Elizabeth (0-0), 7:15 p.m. The fifth-ranked Raiders open with a Catholic Conference match with a young Vikings team.

Friends (1-0) at St. Mark’s (0-0), 7:15 p.m. The Spartans open the season at home looking for the upset.

Thursday

St. Elizabeth at St. Thomas More (0-0), 5 p.m. The Ravens are looking for revenge on the Vikings this year on their home floor.

Padua at Friends, 6:45 p.m. The second-ranked Pandas visit the 4th rank Quakers in a key early season showdown. This game has match of the year candidate written all over it, so get to the gym early.

Friday

St. Mark’s at Smyrna, 5 p.m.

Archmere at Wilmington Christian (0-0), 6:15 p.m.

Saturday

Tri-State Christian Academy (Md.) at St. Thomas More, 1:30 p.m.
