Girls sports in the home stretch with some key battles this week

The calendar has turned to May and the spring sports season is winding down. That means some key matchups as the postseason looms.

Soccer

Monday

soccerSt. Mark’s (3-7) at Ursuline (5-3-1), 3:45 p.m. The Raiders look for their third win in a row and to avenge an earlier loss to the Spartans. St. Mark’s lost to two ranked teams last week.

Caravel (6-2-1) at St. Elizabeth (3-6-1), 3:45 p.m. The Vikings host the No. 3 team in Division II as both teams are coming off loses to Padua.

Tuesday

St. Thomas More (0-7-1) at Delaware Academy of Public Safety and Security (2-4), 3:30 p.m. The Ravens look to get in the win column.

Padua (12-0) at Archmere (8-0-1), 3:45 p.m. The Auks, ranked second in Division II, host the top-ranked Division I team in an early week soccer showdown. The Auks and Pandas both display good offensives and defenses that don’t give up many shots.

Wednesday

Tatnall (1-9) at St. Elizabeth, 3:45 p.m.

Thursday

Archmere at Ursuline, 3:45 p.m.

Friday

St. Mark’s at St. Georges Tech (7-3-1), 3:45 p.m.

 

Softball

Monday

softballSmyrna (9-0) at Ursuline (3-5), 3:45 p.m. The Raiders lost twice last week and now they face a 9-0 Eagles team.

Tuesday

Archmere (5-7) at Newark Charter (2-9), 3:45 p.m. The Auks look to end a four-game losing streak with a road win against a Patriots team that beat the Auks earlier this year.

Red Lion (5-3) at St. Elizabeth (4-6), 3:45 p.m. The Vikings look for their third straight win face a tough Red Lion team that wants to end a two-game losing streak.

Wednesday

St. Elizabeth at St. Mark’s (6-6), 4 p.m. The Spartans look for their third straight win.

Thursday

Archmere at Ursuline, 3:45 p.m.

St. Mark’s at Lake Forest (10-3), 4 p.m.

Padua (9-0) at Milford (3-7), 4:15 p.m. The Pandas are ranked second in the state and look to stay unbeaten.

Friday

Wilmington Christian (3-8) at Ursuline, 3:45 p.m.

Saturday
Milford at St. Elizabeth, 2 p.m.

 

Lacrosse

Monday

lacrosseSt. Mark’s (4-4) at Sanford (1-7), 4 p.m. The Spartans start a busy week with the first of three road games and would like to kick off with the win.

Archmere (6-2) at Polytech (9-2), 5 p.m. The Auks travel to the second-ranked Panthers looking for the upset win.

Indian River (3-6) at St. Thomas More (3-3), 5 p.m. The Ravens look to get over .500 on the season with a busy week.

Newark Charter (6-3) vs. Padua (4-5) at A.I. DuPont, 6 p.m. It’s senior night for the Pandas.

Tuesday

Ursuline (6-2) at Newark Charter, 3:45 p.m. The Raiders start a busy week on the road.

Wednesday

Ss. Peter and Paul (Md.) at St. Thomas More, 4 p.m.

St. Mark’s at Friends (6-4), 4 p.m.

Padua at Archmere, 4:15 p.m.

Thursday

Padua at Ursuline, 3:45 p.m. The Pandas get the Auks and Raiders on back-to-back days, which is not an easy task.

Friday

Hodgson (2-9) at St. Thomas More, 3:45 p.m.

St. Mark’s at Appoquinimink (6-5), 3:45 p.m.

Saturday

Archmere at Ursuline, 2:30 p.m. This is a huge game for both schools as the postseason looms.
