ALAPOCAS – Padua introduced lacrosse as its newest sport last year, and the Pandas have expanded to a full schedule this season. They are playing all of their games on the road, and on April 14, they traveled to Wilmington Friends, falling, 17-5.

Ava Plumb had six goals for the Quakers, while Simone Veale added five.

lacrosseFriends jumped out to a 5-0 lead, with Veale scoring the first goal, followed by Blair Atkins and Plumb. Padua’s Amanda Berry got on the board for Padua with 10:24 left in the first half, but Plumb and Atkins answered for a 7-1 Quakers lead.

The scoring in the first half was far from done, as Padua responded. Emma Braun scored on a restart, and Mary Hennessy added one with 1:52 to go in the half. But Friends had time to add three more before intermission, taking a 10-3 lead on two more from Veale and another from Plumb.

Friends scored the first two of the second half before Grace DiGiovanni found the net for Padua. The Quakers put the game away with the next five goals.

Padua (0-3) visits Mount Pleasant on Monday at 3:30 p.m., while Friends goes to Tower Hill on Tuesday for a 3:45 p.m. start.
