Padua to honor supermodel-turned-businesswoman at annual dinner

WILMINGTON – Kathy Ireland, a former supermodel who is now the chief executive officer of a design and marketing company, will be honored at the sixth annual Padua Academy Dinner in Honor of Women’s Achievement, which will be held April 16, 2015, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.

Founded in 1993, Kathy Ireland Worldwide now grosses more than $2.2 billion in annual retail sales, according to Forbes magazine. Ireland, in addition to being the CEO, is also the chief designer of the company.

Ireland also is an advocate fighting the exploitation of children in human trafficking, a global philanthropist for Christian-based education and an advocate for the pro-life movement.

Padua’s annual dinner recognizes the accomplishments of women “who lead lives of faith, charity, leadership and entrepreneurial innovation,” according to the school. Past honorees include Immaculee Ilibagiza, Mary Ann Glendon, Liz Murray, Laura Bush and Leigh Anne Tuohy. Proceeds from the event benefit the Padua Academy Annual Fund.
