Revak scores five as Auks take boys lacrosse showdown

WILMINGTON – Ben Revak continued an outstanding season by scoring five goals to lead second-ranked Archmere past No. 3 Tower Hill in boys lacrosse on April 16.

The Auks started fast as Xavier Glavin scored two and a half minutes into the first quarter. Archmere was getting most of the loose balls early, and after a Hillers turnover, Nickolas Salameda scored to make it 2-0. Revak got his first of the day with 6:04 remaining.

lacrosseChris Miller put Tower Hill on the board, but the Auks’ defense shut the Hillers down the rest of the half. Revak scored his second to make it 4-1 at the end of the first.

The Auks got the only two goals of the second quarter as Revak got his hat trick and Robert Baxter added his first, giving Archmere a 6-1 halftime lead.

The Auks added to their lead early in the third quarter as Connor Dennewitz scored to make it 7-1 before the Hillers finally ended their scoring drought with a goal by Dougie McCoy.

Archmere was up 8-2 late in the third when the Hillers got two quick goals in the final 24 seconds to cut it to 8-4. The Auks got the first 2 goals of the final quarter as Revak scored again to give the Auks a 10-4 lead.

Tower Hill’s Carter Cucuzzella and Jamie Spartin scored late goals, the second one on a man-up to cut it to 10-6. Revak then scored in the final minute as the Auks improved to 6-1.

Archmere hosts Appoquinimink on Wednesday at 4 pm. The Hillers (4-2) lost to an in-state team for the first time this year; they host Delaware Military Academy on Friday night at 7 p.m.
