Our DioceseYouth Science Olympiad team takes center stage at St. Ann’s By Mike Lang, Dialog Reporter - April 22, 2015 930 Facebook Twitter Pinterest WhatsApp Dialog reporter The St. Ann’s School 15-person Science Olympiad team finished third among 60 teams at the recent state competition, and on a recent Friday, members of the team showed the rest of the school the projects they had worked on. Sixth-graders Corinne Arnold (left) and Bridget Peach show “Air Trajectory,” in which they must launch a projectile with the force of a falling mass in order to hit a target. Seventh-graders Grace Burrus (left) and Savanah Garcia prepare to launch a glider made of balsa wood powered by a rubber band. The goal is to achieve maximum flight time. Riley Flanagan (left), a seventh-grade student, and Michael Webb, and eighth-grader, demonstrate “Bridge,” in which students need to build the lightest balsa bridge that can hold the greatest weight. Riley is pouring sand into the bucket attached to the bridge.
