Soccer reaches end of regular season, and football teams continue playoff push

The boys’ fall sports regular season is winding down as soccer ends this week and football has two weeks left, but there are some important games coming down the stretch.

Tuesday

Middletown (5-8-1) at Salesianum (10-3-1), 3:15 p.m., Hockessin Soccer Club. The top-ranked Sals look to end their season with a fifth straight win.

Archmere (9-5) at Wilmington Charter, 3:30 p.m. The Auks played Salesianum tough last week, and it doesn’t get any easier against the third-ranked Force. Charter has won five straight.

Sussex Central (8-4-1) at St. Mark’s (8-6), 4 p.m. A win could help St. Mark’s postseason aspirations. The Spartans look to rebound from a tough loss to Sussex Tech.

Wednesday

Seaford (4-9) at St. Thomas More (2-12), 3 p.m. It’s Senior Day for the Ravens.

Thursday

Wilmington Christian (1-12) at St. Elizabeth (7-7), 3:45 p.m. A winning record is on the line for the Vikings.

 

Football

Friday

St. Mark’s (4-4) at St. Elizabeth (3-5), 7 p.m., Baynard Stadium. On Senior Night, the Vikings hope for their second consecutive win, while St. Mark’s still has playoff hopes.

Salesianum (7-1) at Sussex Tech (7-1), 7 p.m. The new No. 1, Salesianum, are coming off a big win over previously No. 1 William Penn and look for revenge against the Ravens, who knocked them from the playoffs last year.

Saturday

Archmere (4-4) at Delaware Military Academy (8-0), 2 p.m., Baynard Stadium. The Auks have won three in a row but will have their hands full against the top team in Division II.
