Football

Thursday

McKean at St. Elizabeth, 7 p.m. at Baynard Stadium. The Vikings (preview) start the high school season at home against a Highlanders team that is looking for revenge after the Vikings handed footballthem a 26-6 loss last year. The Vikings want to prove they are championship material this year.

Friday

St Mark’s at Newark, 7 p.m. The Spartans (preview) look for the road win at Division I Newark. St. Mark’s plays a tough schedule, so a win against Newark could help down the line when playoff points are counted. The Yellowjackets look for their second straight win against the Spartans and give their new coach a win.

Father Judge (Pa.) (2-0) at Salesianum, 7:30 p.m. The Crusaders have beaten their two opponents by the score of 75-14. The Sals (preview) look for revenge after last year’s 14-7 loss at Judge but they will have to replace some talent on offense. This is a big home opener for the Sals as they want to get back to the championship game.

Saturday

Howard at Archmere, 2 p.m. The Auks host the defending Division II state champs in a key opener for both teams. The Wildcats took a 37-30 win last year, and the Auks (preview) just missed the playoffs despite winning their last five games.
