CLAYMONT – The Archmere field hockey team scored three second-half goals to defeat St. Mark’s, 3-0, on Senior Day in Claymont on Tuesday.
Archmere controlled most of the play in the first half, but four superb saves by Gillian Bruce kept the Auks off the board. The Auks broke through in the second half when Sarah Bunting put a pass from Leah DaCosta past a diving Bruce with 19:25 remaining in the contest.
DaCosta added the team’s second goal with 12:33 left when she deflected a shot by Ana Baxter. DaCosta scored her second of the afternoon with 5:01 to go.
Archmere outshot St. Mark’s, 23-0, and had a 10-0 advantage on penalty corners. The Auks play at Charter Friday at 3:45 p.m., while St. Mark’s travels to Ursuline Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
