The fall regular season has ended, but there are a bunch of postseason games and matches this week.
Field hockey
First round (seedings in parentheses)
Wednesday
(10) Polytech (10-4-1) at (7) Archmere (11-4), 2:30 p.m. The Auks had a great regular season, defeating some good teams, but they face a tough Panthers team that was in the top five most of the year. The Auks will look to grab an early lead and make the Panthers play from behind.
Second round
(1) Padua (16-0) vs. (8) Friends/(9) Conrad winner, time and site TBA.
Polytech/Archmere winner vs. (2) Caravel, time and site TBA
Volleyball (seedings in parentheses)
Semifinals
Thursday
(6) Ursuline vs (2) Archmere at St. Mark’s High School, time TBA. Archmere swept the Raiders when the teams met on Oct. 7, but Ursuline has already pulled off one upset in the tournament by sweeping Padua in the quarterfinal round. Both teams play stellar defense. On offense, the Raiders will turn to Taylor Wright and Corinne Furey, while Archmere’s main weapons are Lexi Kelly and Julia Kochie. Ursuline has a Kochie of its own, Alexandra.
The second semifinal will pit top-seeded Tower Hill against fourth-seeded and defending state champion Delaware Military Academy.
