Sals soccer matchup highlights week of boys athletics

This week includes many good high school soccer and football matches with Catholic schools. Let’s start with soccer.

Monday

St. Thomas More (1-4) at St. Andrews (1-2), 4 p.m. The Ravens are coming off a tough loss to Archmere on Saturday and look for their second win against a Saints team that has lost two straight.

Wednesday

Wilmington Christian (1-2) at Archmere (3-2), 3:45 p.m. The Auks go for two straight against a team that got its first win last time out against Friends

Thursday

Charter (4-1) at Salesianum (2-0-2), 4 p.m. The Sals traveled to North Carolina for a win this weekend, while the Force lost a tough overtime game against top-ranked Appoquinimink and then beat a good Caesar Rodney team.

Saturday

St. Thomas More at Delmarva Christian (1-4), 11 a.m.

Archmere at St. Mark’s (1-3), 11 a.m. The Spartans need a win to get back in the Division 1 playoff picture.

 

Football

Friday

Salesianum (2-1) at Glen Mills (Pa.), 7 p.m.

St. Mark’s (2-1) at Dover (1-2), 7:30 p.m. The Spartans defense got back on track in a 28-0 win last week. Dover’;s defense has struggled, but the Senators can put up points quick. St. Mark’s will be looking for payback against the team that knocked it out of the playoffs last season.

Saturday

Queen Anne’s (Md.) at Archmere (2-1), noon. The Auks offense is starting to pile up points while their defense shuts teams down.

St. Elizabeth (1-2) vs. AI DuPont (1-2) at University of Delaware, 4 p.m. The Vikings are coming off their first win of the season last Friday and now they get to play a Division 1 team at Delaware Stadium. A.I. has struggled on defense but has a decent offense.
