WILMINGTON – Padua’s seniors had a successful final volleyball home match on Oct. 24, fighting off a quality St. Mark’s squad in a 3-0 sweep. The Pandas took the match by scores of 25-16, 28-26, and 25-19.
Match point was delivered, naturally, by senior Emily Jarome, who crushed a ball set by her classmate, Emma Lucey. Jarome finished the evening with 20 kills and 13 digs, while Jess Molen added 17 kills and 11 digs. Katie McGonigal led the Pandas with 17 digs.

For the Spartans, Savannah Seemans had another fine outing. She finished with 20 kills, 16 assists and three blocks. Erin Derick had nine kills but did not play in the third set. Gillian Lytle paced St. Mark’s with 14 digs.
The Pandas take their 14-0 record a few blocks to their archrival, Ursuline, on Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. Padua won a narrow 3-2 decision earlier this season. The Spartans (11-3) wrap up the regular season when they host Ursuline on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. Both Padua and St. Mark’s will be playing in the state tournament.
