A few big battles scheduled this week in girls sports

A relatively light week on the girls’ sports schedule includes some big matchups, particularly in volleyball.
Field hockey
Monday
Padua (4-1) at William Penn (3-2-1), 3:45 p.m. The Pandas are coming off their first loss, a 4-1 setback at perennial powerhouse Cape Henlopen.
Ss. Peter (1-6) and Paul at Delmarva Christian, 4 p.m.
Tuesday
Archmere (4-2) at Red Lion (5-1-1), 3:45 p.m. The Auks continue their season after homecoming weekend with a trip to Bear for a Diamond State Athletic Conference matchup with the Lions.
Christiana (0-6) at St. Thomas More (1-3), 4 p.m.
Wednesday
St. Mark’s (2-4) at Padua, 3:45 p.m. at Forbes Field.
Hodgson (2-4-1)at St. Elizabeth (1-4), 3:45 p.m. at Serviam Field.

Ss. Peter and Paul at Annapolis Area Christian, 4 p.m.

Salisbury Christian (Md.) at St. Thomas More (2-3), 4 p.m.
Archmere (5-2) at MOT Charter (1-6), 5:15 p.m.
Tatnall (5-2) at Padua (7-0), 6 p.m. The Pandas host the Hornets in a battle of an established volleyball power against a newcomer to the top ranks. Tatnall features sophomore hitter Ashlynn DeLucia and senior setter Juliana Campbell.
Ursuline (5-0) at St. Elizabeth (3-4), 7:15 p.m.
Tuesday
St. Mark’s (5-2) at Delaware Military (1-3), 5:15 p.m.
Wednesday
Archmere at Tower Hill, 5:15 p.m. If you have the night off, this would be a great start to a night of top-quality high school volleyball. Archmere, ranked sixth in the state by 302Sports.com, travels to No. 2 Tower Hill for the first match. The Auks come at opponents with a balanced attack and stellar defense. The Hillers feature two of the top hitters in the state, a few outstanding younger players and a great atmosphere inside Weaver Gym. The teams last met in the consolation match during the state tournament.
Ursuline at Padua, 7 p.m. Shoot over from Tower Hill to Padua for this Catholic Conference nightcap. Rivals Ursuline and Padua are ranked first and third, respectively, in the state, and this match promises to live up to the hype. The Raiders always bring the defense, and that will be especially needed against the towering Pandas front line. Expect a sold-out, frenetic scene for this one.
