CLAYMONT – Archmere’s girls soccer team, ranked second in Division II, had scored a goal in each of its first two games. But the Auks found their offense on April 12 in an 8-1 win over St. Elizabeth. Sullivan Boulden and Leah DaCosta each had three goals and an assist to pace the Auks’ offense.
Dara Dawson got Archmere on the board first, scoring off a beautiful cross from Kylie Wright in the 15th minute. The Auks continued the pressure, and Boulden tallied on a shot to the far post in the 33rd minute. With the first half winding down, Boulden fed Karena Wursthorn, who scored a few second before halftime for a 3-0 lead.
The Vikings got on the board in the 44th minute when Alan Speaks scored on a mini-break. Archmere, however, restored the three-goal cushion three minutes later as Boulden notched her second off a feed from Dawson.
That started a five-goal run over the next 15 minutes as the Auks pulled away. DaCosta scored three times in a row in an eight-minute span to make it 7-1. Boulden added the final goal, going the length of the field from Archmere’s defensive zone and drilling the ball to the far post.
The Auls (2-0-1) host Red Lion on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. St. Elizabeth (2-3) travels to Wilmington Christian on Thursday, also at 3:45 p.m.
