After another exciting week of high school basketball, you might be asking if the action could get any better. This week won’t disappoint as we move into the final two weeks of the regular season. Teams are looking to play their best heading into the state tournament, and this week is important preparation.
Monday: St. Mark’s at St. Elizabeth, 7:15 p.m. St. Mark’s is coming off a huge win vs. Milford on Saturday to improve to 11-5. The Spartans are looking for a season sweep against St. Elizabeth, who upset Archmere for the second time last week but lost to Charter on Saturday.
Tuesday: St. Thomas More at Tome (Md.), 5:30 p.m. The young Ravens are looking to close out the season on a positive note this week.
St. Mark’s at Sanford, 5:15 p.m. Sanford is coming on strong to close out the season; the Warriors are 10-6 following a strong win vs. Cape Henlopen over the weekend, their fourth victory in a row. St. Mark’s will be playing their second game in less than 24 hours in a tough road environment.
Charter at Archmere, 6:15 p.m. It is senior night for the 14-3 Auks, but Charter is no easy foe. The Force have big wins over Concord and St. Elizabeth (twice). They are 10-6 and on a four-game winning streak; a win against Archmere would look good on the tournament resume.
Thursday: St. Elizabeth at Tatnall, 5:30 p.m. The Vikings need wins, and one tonight against the young Hornets would mean two points in the tournament seeding. Tatnall is 2-15 after a loss to A.I. duPont on Saturday.
Salisbury Christian (Md.) at St. Thomas More, 6 p.m. St. Thomas More would like to finish the home schedule with a win on senior night.
Friday: Salesianum at St. Mark’s, 7:30 p.m. This will be the Sals’ first game since a win at Concord on Saturday. They are 15-2 and unbeaten against Delaware competition. The Spartans gave Salesianum fits in their first matchup and are looking for the upset at home. Tickets should be available at both schools during the week, and an early arrival is suggested as a big crowd is guaranteed.
Saturday: Wilmington Friends at St. Elizabeth, 1 p.m. This is another must-win for the Vikings as Friends was 4-12 heading into this week. Friends also played Tuesday and Thursday.
St. Thomas More at Conrad, 1:30 p.m. The Ravens are out for revenge after a 56-38 loss last Wednesday. This is St. Thomas More’s last game, so a win would leave the Ravens with a better taste in their mouths.
Sunday: Archmere at Salesianum, 6 p.m. It is senior night for Salesianum and a rare Sunday matchup. The Auks will have been off since Tuesday and hope to hand the Sals their first home loss. Expect another packed and loud house at 18th and Broom as the two Catholic schools meet.
