Boys’ sports schedules include a few championship rematches

The second full week of the fall sports season brings us a couple of rematches from last year’s state championships.

Soccer

Tuesday

Archmere (2-1) at Tatnall (0-2), 3:45 p.m. The fifth-ranked Auks are on the road looking for soccertheir second straight win.

Newark Charter (3-0) vs. St. Elizabeth (2-1), 3:45 p.m. at Alapocus Run State Park. The Vikings face the fourth-ranked Patriots, who are rolling and picked up a road win at Archmere last week.

St. Georges Tech (2-1) at St. Mark’s (1-0), 3:45 p.m. The second-ranked Spartans have had 10 days off, and they face a tough Hawks team.

St. Thomas More (1-2) at Smyrna (0-2), 6 p.m.

Thursday

Charter (3-0) vs. Salesianum (3-1), 3:30 p.m. at Hockessin Soccer Club. The top-ranked Sals lost their second game in Colorado and will drop in the national rankings, but they have scored 15 goals in two in-state games. The No. 2 Force want revenge from losing last year’s championship game.

Wilmington Christian (0-3) at Archmere, 3:45 p.m.

St. Elizabeth at St. Thomas More, 4 p.m.

St. Mark’s at Red Lion (0-2), 4 p.m.

Saturday

St. Thomas More at Delmarva Christian (1-2), 11 a.m.

 

Football

Friday

Conrad (2-0) at St. Elizabeth (1-1), 7 p.m. Conrad looks to remain unbeaten with a key win on footballthe road. The Vikings want to rebound after a tough loss at Laurel.

Salesianum (2-0) at Smyrna (2-0), 7 p.m. The third-ranked Sals are looking for payback after losing to the Eagles in the state championship game last year. The Eagles have been impressive in their two road wins but face an early season test. Salesianum struggled for a half last week but they have a solid defense and Mike Drake will be key.

Saturday

St. Mark’s (2-0) at Brandywine (0-2), 10:30 a.m. The Spartans have been impressive this year and looks to keep it going on the road.

Archmere (2-0) at Tatnall (2-0), noon. This was one of the best games last year in Division II as the Hornets won at Archmere. The loss possibly kept the Auks out of the playoffs, and they want revenge.
