WILMINGTON — Kayla Miller, a former basketball standout at Ursuline Academy and the University of Delaware, has been hired as the new girls basketball coach at St. Mark’s High School, the school announced June 11. Miller takes over for John Fiorelli, who retired from coaching but remains a teacher at the school.

Miller, 24, spent last season as an assistant coach at Archmere Academy. Before that, she played collegiately at Delaware, helping the Blue Hens reach the NCAA regional semfinals in 2013. She was a mainstay at Ursuline Academy, a member of two state championship teams and a first-team all-state selection as a senior in 2008.

She inherits a Spartans team that went 7-14 last season but which won a game in the state tournament before falling to Ursuline. Five seniors have graduated, but there were five juniors on the roster last year.
