WILMINGTON — Joe Voge scattered seven hits and struck out six in a complete-game performance as Archmere grabbed a 7-0 win in nonconference baseball Thursday afternoon at Tower Hill. Voge improved to 7-1 on the season, and the Auks are 14-3 with one game left in the regular season.

The senior righthander was in serious trouble just once during the game, and that came in the second inning, when Tower Hill loaded the bases with one out on two singles and a walk. But Voge buckled down and retired the next two hitters on a foul pop up to first base and a ground out to first base. That preserved a 1-0 Auks lead; Colin Lynch had scored an unearned run in the top of the second on a two-out single by Danny Bannon.

Archmere blew the game open in their half of the third thanks to some timely hitting and a few defensive miscues by Tower Hill, which committed five errors overall. With one out, Andrew Orzel doubled, and Nick Talley followed with an infield single to put runners at first and second. A walk to Lynch loaded the bases. Orzel and Talley both scored when Joe Singley grounded a ball through the legs of a Hillers infielder. Lynch and courtesy runner Michael Schiavello moved up on a groundout to first, then scored on a throwing error on a ground ball by Tighe Watson.

The Auks added their final two runs in the fifth. Lynch, who had singled, scored from second on a two-out bloop double to center by Chopper Diamanty. Watson, who had been hit by a pitch one batter before Diamanty, advanced to third on the hit. He scored on a single by Bannon.

Archmere concludes its impressive regular season on Monday at home, welcoming Hodgson for a 4 p.m. start. Pat Fagan and Bo Anderson each had two hits for the Hillers, who are also 14-3. They finish their regular season on Saturday when they host Charter at 11 a.m.
